The Seed of Heinz’s Success
Sustainability is a key ingredient at Heinz, from field to fork.
It has always been a deeply held value at Heinz, ever since the
Company’s inception, when Henry John Heinz bottled his products in
clear glass jars to show their purity. Henry Heinz’s belief in food
safety regulations made an important contribution to society from day
one. And he continued to move the industry forward as a champion of the
Pure Food & Drug Act of 1906, which is still relevant today.
The Heinz commitment to sustainability is exemplified by two keystone initiatives. The first is our HeinzSeed program, which provides the very best tomatoes for our foods through traditional breeding techniques. The second is the Heinz Micronutrient Campaign, which aims to combat the issue of childhood micronutrient malnutrition in developing nations through the distribution of vitamin supplement powder that can be sprinkled on foods.
At Heinz, we recognize that sustainability has broad Environmental, Economic and Social impacts. And that doing business is synonymous with doing the right thing. Heinz believes that going green is not only good for the environment, it is also good for business
We are proud to report on our progress in these critical areas and invite you to view our Heinz Corporate Social Responsibility Report or explore this section to view our long-term sustainability targets.
